Before Updating
- Please ensure that the firmware of the camera body is updated to the latest version.
- The update cannot be performed unless the lens is attached to an EOS R series camera.
- Use a fully charged dedicated battery pack or dedicated AC adapter kit for the camera.
- During the firmware update, be careful not to drop the battery or disconnect the AC adapter kit.
- Do not turn off the camera during the firmware update.
- Do not remove the lens or operate buttons, dials, switches, etc. while updating the firmware.
- Firmware updates via EOS Utility are not supported.

Update Procedure
STEP 01
Click the download button or press the right mouse button (right-click) to download.
Please check that the compressed file (SGxxx.zip or .dmg) has been saved to your specified location.
Please unzip the downloaded compressed file using the following method.
Right-click the downloaded compressed file (zip file) and select [Extract All] from the menu that appears to unzip it.
STEP 02
Please initialize the card using a camera.
Connect the initialized card to a computer via a card reader, etc., and copy the firmware modification file (SGxxx.afu) that you created by extracting the downloaded compressed file to the root directory of the card (the top layer of the file structure). (The destination is not a subfolder of “DCIM”).
STEP 03
Insert the card, containing the firmware, into the camera, attach the lens to the camera, turn it on and set the shooting mode to either P/TV/AV/M.
STEP 04
Press the on the back of the camera to display the menu. Then, select "Firmware Ver. X.X.X" from the [Function Settings Menu] and press the

STEP 05
The firmware versions of the camera and lens will be displayed, so select “Lens Ver. X.X.X.” and press the
* If the displayed ‘Lens Ver. X.X.X.’ is the latest version, there is no need to update the firmware.
STEP 06
The lens firmware update screen will be displayed, so select ‘OK’ and press the
*If “Firmware Ver. X.X.X” does not appear on the screen, the firmware may not have been copied correctly to the card. Please start again from STEP 01.
STEP 07
The file name of the firmware to be updated will be displayed, so please press the button.
*If the file name of the firmware to be updated does not appear, the firmware may not have been copied correctly to the card. Please start again from STEP 01.

* Do not turn off the camera or press any buttons while the update is in progress. This may cause the lens to malfunction.
* If an error occurs during the firmware update, remove the battery and stop the operation. Check the battery charge level and the firmware on the card, and if there are no problems, start again.

Update Procedure

The downloaded compressed file (dmg file) will be automatically extracted and the firmware disk image will be mounted. If it is not automatically extracted, double-click the downloaded file.
When extracted, the SGxxx folder and the firmware change file (SGxxx.afu) will be created within that folder.
