The Sigma Corporation (CEO:Kazuto Yamaki) is pleased to announce the new release of the SIGMA SD1 Merrill 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM Kit which comprises the interchangeable lens digital single lens reflex camera SIGMA SD1 Merrill and the SIGMA 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM.

The SIGMA SD1 Merrill is Sigma’s flagship digital SLR which incorporates a full-color Foveon X3 direct image sensor (generation-name “Merrill”). It adopts a lightweight yet solid magnesium alloy body along with buttons and connected parts sealed with O-rings, enhancing the durability as well as preventing dust and water from getting inside the camera. “Dual TRUE II” and DDR III ensure high speed processing of images without lowering the quality. The 46 mexapixel (4800×3200×3 layers), the world’s only full-color sensor, ensures outstanding resolution and natural rendering with rich gradation as well as a three-dimentional feel.

The SIGMA 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM is 11.1x high zoom ratio lens incorporates Sigma’s original OS function and offers a broad shooting range from wide angle to telephoto. The latest optical technology enables easy handheld photography with a compact construction and length of just 87.7mm, making it ideal for various scenes such as landscape, general photography and sport. This compact construction guarantees excellent mobility. FLD (“F” Low Dispersion) glass elements, which have performance equal to fluorite, SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements, and aspherical lens elements provide high image quality throughout the entire zoom range. The HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) ensures fast and quiet auto-focusing.
