SIGMA 17-70mm F2.8-4 DC MACRO HSM F/SONY, F/PENTAX

The Sigma Corporation is pleased to announce the new SIGMA 17-70mm F2.8-4 DC MACRO HSM for Sony, and for Pentax.
The large aperture standard zoom lens covers frequently-used focal lengths and delivers an aperture value of F2.8 (at 17mm) which enables close-up photography. This lens can be used for a variety of subjects such as portraits, sports and macro photography. The bright aperture value of F2.8 creates an attractive bokeh to the backgrounds, and avoids blurring of subjects by allowing a fast shutter speed.
The minimum focusing distance is 22cm throughout the entire zoom range, and the maximum magnification ratio is 1:2.7. It is possible to focus as close as approximately 4.7cm from the tip of the lens to the subject making this lens particularly useful for close-up photography. One ELD (Extraordinary Low Dispersion) glass and three aspherical lenses provide correction for all types of aberrations and assure high quality images throughout the entire zoom range. The Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting, providing sharp and high contrast images even at the maximum apertures.
HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) ensures high speed and quiet auto focus and the rounded 7 blade diaphragm creates an attractive blur to the out of focus areas of the image. The inner focus system eliminates front lens rotation, making the lens particularly suitable for using circular polarizing filters and attaching the supplied petal-type lens hood.

17-70mm F2.8-4 DC MACRO OS HSM for Sony and for Pentax will be discontinued with the launch of this lens.
