  • Wide viewing angle and astrophotography-level optical performance

The fantastic optical performance of the Sigma 24mm F1.4 DG DN | Art is powered by the optimal arrangement of 17 elements in 14 groups, including two FLD, one SLD and four aspherical glass elements. The successful suppression of optical aberrations such as sagittal coma flare, which cannot be corrected by the camera, contributes to lens’ clear and accurate point-image reproduction capabilities in every part of the frame. Other unsightly effects such as ghosting or flares are minimized by its state-of-the-art optical design, and the use of Super Multi-Layer Coating and Nano Porous Coating (NPC) allow the Sigma 24mm F1.4 DG DN | Art to deliver visual punch even in backlit conditions and near maximum aperture. Its power to render clean and accurate images in any situations make this lens ideal for everyday use as well as technically demanding genres like astro-, landscape and architectural photography. Experience the power and joy of one of the most versatile lenses in Sigma’s Art F1.4 lineup.

  • Compact for an F1.4 large-aperture, wide-angle lens beyond belief

The Sigma 24mm F1.4 DG DN | Art delivers its brilliant optical performance in a compact, portable and easy-to-use body. Thanks to an optimal placement of each single part, the use of complex aspherical glass elements, the freedom afforded by the short flange back distance and a fierce fight for every single gram, the lens comes at an astonishingly small size and weight despite its wide viewing angle and large maximum aperture without any compromise of its optical qualities. With its handy dimensions, the 24mm F1.4 DG DN | Art is easy and convenient to use in any given situation, from travel and street photography to night-time photography. The wide viewing angle of its 24mm focal length makes it easy to get everything into the shot without losing focus of the subject – ideal for single or group portraits and documentary photography. The Sigma 24mm F1.4 DG DN | Art opens up endless possibilities to anyone who values high optical performance, versatility and convenience, from professional photographers to users who are new to a wide-angle prime lens.

  • Superb build quality with a range of useful features

The new MFL (Manual Focus Lock) switch

A new MFL function to disable the focus ring operation is available. When the MFL switch is set to “LOCK”, the focus ring operation will be disabled.
In case of astrophotography, the distance to the subject does not change and it is necessary to fix the focus after manual focus adjustments have been made. This is to prevent the focus ring from accidentally being moved, which would cause out-of-focus images. In the past, it was left to the user to invent ways of achieving this, such as using tape to hold the focus ring in position. This was not ideal due the tape’s adhesive strength decreasing when temperatures drop.
The MFL function solves this inconvenience.

    Support front and rear filters

The lens also comes with a rear filter holder, allowing photographers the freedom to combine multiple filters to suit a huge variety of shooting situations for near-unlimited creative potential at an ultra-wide viewing angle—for example, using a front filter to reduce light pollution and a softening filter on the rear to take impressive, sharp photographs of nightly landscapes with star-filled skies.

    Dust- and Splash- Resistant Structure

The dust- and splash-resistant structure* of the lens itself and the water- and oil-repellent coating of the front element will keep the lens safe and functioning even during shoots in harsher environments.

    * Although this construction allows the lens to be used in light rain, it is not the same as being waterproof.

    Thoughtful features

Thoughtful features such as a focus mode switch, a freely configurable AFL button* and the aperture ring lock switch to prevent accidental changes further enhance the intuitive and flexible nature of the lens. The petal-type hood has a lock mechanism to prevent unintentional removal. Filmmakers will especially appreciate the fast yet silent autofocus driven by a stepping motor and the aperture ring click switch that allows for smooth aperture control. With its exceptional optical performance and superb build quality, the Sigma 24mm F1.4 DG DN | Art is the latest result of Sigma’s relentless, uncompromising pursuit of perfection down to the smallest detail.

    * Only on compatible cameras. Available functions may vary depending on the camera used.

MTF Chart

The MTF (Modulation Transfer Function) is one of the measurements for evaluating a lens’ performance, and it shows how faithfully the contrast of the subject can be reproduced on the image plane. The horizontal axis shows the image height (distance from the center of the image in mm) and the vertical axis shows the contrast value (maximum value is 1).
The closer the 10 line pairs/mm curve is to 1, the higher the contrast and clarity of the lens is, and similarly, the closer the 30 line pairs/mm curve is to 1, the better the resolution and sharpness of the lens is.

*The MTF chart depicts the result at the wide-open aperture.
*For mirrorless lenses that support distortion correction, the horizontal axis shows the image height equivalent to when an L-Mount lens is attached to a Sigma L-Mount camera with distortion correction applied. (The effect of distortion correction may differ depending on the mount and camera used.)
*The spatial frequency indicates the variation on the image plane before distortion correction is performed.
