I started photography 6 years ago. Why did I choose to capture movement? It is because I’ve always been attracted to movement and lines. Working with dancers, in particular, allowed me to discover multiple possibilities to develop my creativity.

Shooting hip hop dancers on the square of the Lyon Opera with some dancer friends of mine was where I started the journey. Luckily, I was able to get to know some big names in the field quickly such as B-boy Lilou and his Street Off collective, and participate in a few projects.

I also met dancers from different worlds, affording me the opportunity to photograph the dancers of the Lyon Opera. Once my pictures were posted, they caught the attention of many, making it easy to quickly connect with more people and build up a bigger, broader network. This was, in part, thanks to social networks such as Instagram (I won’t explain how I met SIGMA, haha!)

To capture the beauty of dynamic movements, the right partners are essential. When it comes to equipment selection, I like to go for wide and long focal length lenses to give variations of similar scenes.

The first thing I noticed when I unpacked the new SIGMA 20mm F1.4 DG DN | Art was the weight and the size! As an owner of the DSLR version of this lens, I can tell you that I was really excited and looking forward to shooting photos with it. Since I have the SIGMA 85mm F1.4 DG DN | Art, I finally get my wide-angle / long focal length combo, full F1.4 in a DG DN version for mirrorless cameras!

You might ask: "How do you use it for action photography?”

Seriously, I test it under different conditions, and it works fantastically. I especially enjoy its ultra-fast aperture paired with my LEICA SL2-S.

The SIGMA 20mm F1.4 DG DN | Art not only upholds its Art line reputation, but features like the aperture ring on the lens and especially the manual focus lock switch, which allows locking the map in MF, are really game changers. This lens allows me to create my art without worries and lets my movement seamlessly follow my ideas.

Another improvement is that the front of the lens (which no longer bulges like its predecessor) now can accommodate 82mm filters, which gives me more options for handling different scenes and situations.

And finally, as a fan of wide-angle photography, I love its ultra-short focus which allows me to make very close up pictures, which is something I like to do.

Capturing images far or near, this is a must-have lens for your camera bag.

A few years ago, I couldn’t even think about making a living from photography, because I thought that my photos could only end up on the walls of friends and relatives. But little by little, I met many mentors who guided me in technique and I learned to promote my style of photography by adapting them to the client’s demand.

I progressed very quickly because I was able to meet good people, especially those who shared and taught me many things in this profession; specifically, action photography.

Even today I am still multiplying my contacts and meeting beautiful people. And I know that it is not an easy job, because to get what you want you must work hard, like any other job.

Today, I have the opportunity to share my own experience, understanding that giving back is essential and I want to pass on what has been given and shared with me. There is no secret. Sharing and working hard are the engines to succeed, on top of being surrounded by talented, hardworking professionals! This is the basis.

In 2019, I became a full-time professional and until today I do not regret my choice, even if my workload has increased. To wake up for something you love and to live my passion is all I can wish for myself and anyone who would like to work toward making their dream a reality.

You must go for it! You must try it! You must take a chance! There is no stupid question and there will always be someone to answer you.

If all this ends one day, I will have no regrets, because I know that I will always take pictures and create images I like and have meaning to me.
